I have decided that I am completely
ADHD when it comes to themes for the week.
lol There are just so many fantastic blogs out there with some GREAT things on them I just see something and think I need to do that this week. It doesn't even matter if I already have everything set for a different theme! Anyway, I thought that we would switch to ponds (frogs) this week (it was supposed to be a camping theme). It will fit nicely because Annabelle just switched over to her swamp theme so everyone will be able to do the same activities for the week. So here are some trays that I put together to reflect the theme.
Feed the frog. This little guy is made out of a
parmesan cheese container. We have a game with little bug pieces to feed him. I thought that we could do this a few ways. By numbers (feed him 5 bugs), by color (feed him a green bug), or just the simple way of letting the kids just feed him whatever they want. :)

Balancing frog/fish eggs(marbles) on golf tees.
We've used this little
frog color matching game before close to a year ago. It was easy for Annabelle, but difficult for Asa because you have to match two color tones and not just one. I'm interested to see how he does with it this time around.
These vocabulary matching cards are from
1+1+1=1. The are really nomenclature cards, but we just use them for matching and new vocabulary words.
These next two pocket chart activities are from
Homeschool Creations preschool packs. These last two sites I mentioned are owned by two fantastic and generous
homeschool moms. I am grateful for their resources.
This is a Find the Frog game. I will hide the frog behind a number and the kids will tell me which number they want to take. This is to help with number recognition with numbers 1-20. Plus, it should be pretty fun.
This one is just matching the uppercase letters to lowercase letters.
Silas loves to dot. So I thought that I would put a frog out for him to decorate.
The rest of these aren't necessarily part of the pond theme, but just some fun trays that will keep the little guys busy while I'm working with Annabelle. They like variety... :)

This little book I got at a garage sale this weekend. I put it on a cookie sheet because the pieces are all magnets.
Just a different way to present this alphabet puzzle. I saw this idea at
Playing House. I knew that the boys love any idea that involves their alphabet bins. So this idea is a winner.

All three of the kids had fun and worked hard on a pond collage for the wall in the schoolroom. They dotted frogs.....

We also did handprint fish, lily pads, cattails, and a turtle. They really enjoyed adding to this.
I really think the cattails and the fish are my favorite....but I like the lily pads too.
A whole lot of fun wrapped into one big project.....I really don't want to take it down. lol
