All Things Green Nature Walk

We had an assignment (a whole bunch of them really) in Annabelle's curriculum to go on a nature walk and find a swamp/wetland, observe frogs, observe cattails and wetland birds, find things that are green....and the list goes on. We didn't do all of it in depth, but we had a fun nature walk and talked about quite a few things.

Zak's parents have so much nature around them (and a few wetland habitats) that I though that we would start there. We found so much cool stuff! They have a plant that has quite a few little frogs on it. They were small quick little things. Zak was the only one who could catch one! This gave us a chance to discuss the difference between frogs and toads.

I was super impressed that Annabelle even wanted to touch it, let alone hold it!
It started to jump up her arm.....
Bright green grasshopper.
Corn....such a pretty sight really (I guess I'm a country girl at heart).
Not green, but it is a really cool yellow caterpillar that we watched for a while.
Pretty cattails at the edge of a field in a ditch. I don't know why or how they started growing here. It's just a patch of them really, but I'm glad we got to see them.
My favorite picture from the walk. :)
Happy blogging!

  1. I just had to stop by and say thank you for the loving comment you left on my blog! I miss you too, it was fun hosting the garage sale treasures and getting to know you a little better and to "feel" like we were doing something together. Fall is my favorite time of year, so you bet I will be enjoying it! I hope you will be too! Love and Hugs, Mrs. Taffy :o)
